SO CONTEST TIME!

The Contest will end on March 6th, 2017. If any extensions are needed beyond that date, it will be extended (at maximum) to March 16th, 2017.

Guidelines:

This contest requires you to make two (2) Gems: a Royal Gem, and the Pearl which serves under them.
Some form of Gem canon should be followed (Pearls and their Royals should be the same color, though not necessarily the same shade), however, other Gem canon is very much free to be broken (while your Gem Royal should be TOP of its society, it does NOT have to be a Diamond; however, try not to put something like, say, a Ruby in the role of a Royal).
It isn't UNALLOWED for your Royal Gem to be a fusion of some kind, but if you do that you'll have to show both unfused gems and describe them as well. So maybe it's best to avoid fusions.
I accept all genders, however, please note I prefer feminine designs (especially feminine males) and like more historical clothing for all genders.
Weapons are not a requirement, however, they are encouraged.
YOU MUST PROVIDE A BIO OF SOME KIND. Please include likes, dislikes, personality, any significant powers, backstory, and their relationship to one another. They may be changed by me if picked, but I want to see you guys get creative with this! Show me you thought about their relationship! Do they like each other? Does one hate tubas? Does one really love Carolina Reaper peppers? Tell me!
CREATIVITY IS KEY! I hope to pick around 4 pairs, so please be creative!
WHAT DO I LIKE IN DESIGNS?: 

Light colors (pastel blue/pink, light leafy green, etc.) are always nice, as are bright tones like fuchsia, magenta, cyan, silver, gold, etc.
Historic clothing (Victorian Era, French aristocracy, Colonial clothing, etc.) is always lovely in my opinion. Also frilly/lacy clothes and heels. I love feminine boys in lace cravats and heels.
Glasses. Please. I know Gems probably don't need them but I love glasses and monocles. Eyewear is great.
Bows. Ribbons. Flowers. Cute things. Make them adorable. I'll probably cry and that's a good thing.
I know I named mostly European clothing but don't be fooled I love almost all fancy historic clothes.
Honestly just pop into my favorites and check out my characters, you'll probably figure out what I like.
I DON'T like really short hair, maybe try to avoid that. Cover the ears at least. I love wavy/curly hair at the chin-shoulders or longer.
You can put your male Gems in drag. Believe me, I don't mind in the slightest.

ABSOLUTELY NO THEFT OF CHARACTERS OR TRACING/STEALING OF ART WILL BE PERMITTED. If I catch you, you will be blocked and disqualified, and the person you stole from will be promptly informed.
NO BASES! Please use your own work. Even if it is not the best, I want to see your work, not a base maker's. This is about DESIGNS and BIOS, not ART QUALITY.
You must advertise this contest in a journal and link that journal here before entering or in your entry to be counted, otherwise your designs will not be considered. YOU MUST PROVIDE ME A LINK SOMEWHERE IN CASE YOU MENTION DOES NOT SHOW UP IN MY INBOX.
If your designs are not picked, you can keep them, gift them to me, sell them, gift them to someone else, etc.
You may make multiple entries, however, only one entry can place.
